Things you never knew about… Roy McKee

1. Job Title & Length of Service at Higgins
Commercial Insurance Broker and Client Adviser. Joined the company in May 2005.

2.  Any degree/qualifications?
I graduated with BSc Honours Degree in Finance from Queens University in July 2002. Currently working towards Chartered Insurance Exams, however I am only half way there!

3. Are you married and/or have kids?
Married for 5 Years and have a 4 year old called Matthew.

4. How do you usually spend your weekends?
Most Saturdays involves playing Football for Belfast Deaf United. Beforehand I normally take Matthew to the Park, Swimming Pool or Indoor Soft Play Centres. Sundays usually involve a family day out.

6. Do you enjoy sports?
Yes – Football. Big follower of Leeds United – certainly been a rollercoaster the past number of years! Currently play for Belfast Deaf United in the Down Area League & Ireland Deaf Team. I also enjoy watching Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts.

7. Where have you played with the Ireland Deaf Team?
I have played in 2 European Deaf Championships in Portugal and Spain, finishing 3rd and 4th respectively and in two Deaflympics in Rome and Melbourne were we also finished 3rd and 4th. In June this year, I played in the first ever FIFA Deaf World Cup were we lost 2 – 1 to France in the quarter finals (after extra time)

8. Are you not getting to old for all this football?
My wife thinks I am but I reckon I have one more year left before I end up on the scrapheap!!! I am trying to make it to the Deaflympics in Taipei in September 2009, after which I will retire.

9. Favourite Movie
Hard to choose but Seven, Usual Suspects and Goodfellas would be my top three.

10. Any pets?
No pets as yet but if Matthew has his way he wants us to get a Doberman, preferably the one in Batman cartoon!
